An idea a day:
57. Setup a online computer at every 7-11, for people to access to an online product catalog 24/7/365. This is a cross-over of traditional retail and online store.
Traditional online store require people to pay bills by credit cards/ paypal etc. But unlike US, the online market is not so hugh as in HK, the reason is not because of the infrastructure/ online (tech) illiteracy, the main reason is the payment method, people are unsure and don't dare to try out the seem-risky style.

If we could have every 7-11 equiped with an online-accessible computer, which could direct people to a online catalog of products, like CDs, books, oversea magazines or like those in $10HKD stores, after people chosen what they want, they can settle the bill by cash/ Octopus at the cashier of the 7-11, and the products could be delieveried to any 7-11 at the convience of the customers, then we could transform the traditional retail to something amazon-like.

As space is price-y in every retail store, a traditional retail store could not have an infinity range of products, and by the "LONG TAIL", every products have it's demand, and could generate profit, 7-11 could make use of this system to obtain profit that is missing at present, regardless of the placement (space) of actual products.

This system is a dual platform, apart from the above, it could be anything like traditional online store, and could be accessible in every computer at home, but need to settle bills with credit cards.

Imagine you could order and pick up any books/ magazines/ virtually anythings at the 7-11 nearby, without getting to any specific stores, like bookstores for purchasing (the advantage of online-shopping), at the same time you could settle all bills with cash (the advantage of retail stores), it could surely attract users. Even people under 18 could order things over the internet, as no credit cards is needed!

The best scenairo:
1. Provided that you are a female under 18 and live with your family, suddenly you find you are in a deadly need of a dildo, could you buy it online? No, as this will need a credit card and the product will be delievered to your home. Could you buy it in a sexy retail store? May be if you dare. This online system is the best solution, you could pay bill by cash, at the same time, you could get it without involving your family.

2. For beggars, without any credit/ credit cards and home, if they know how to use computer, they can buy things online! Increasing the range of products that they could access to, not confine to phyically-tengible goods, they could order goods from US/ Japan etc.

It could also get some benefit for the store with this system, as it could attract customers who need convenient shopping, or someone waiting, as the computers can use to check email or other applications, all in all, people could be attracted to enter the store and this is the critical step to close deals, and is a add-value step to any retail store.

The platform could developed internally by 7-11, or a tech company could develp the platform and partner with logistic firm to accomplish the whole things. If this is the later, the tech company could have this service installed at any store, not just at convenient store, place like coffee shops, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, up to your imagination. The sky is the limit.

To AY, you could use this at any business-plan competition if you like.

Comments:

Ha, you are back!

Shagged with Linda every night? No time get online? Take care, Man.

If the system is developed by 7-11, it could increase the product range, at the same time, no need to care about the logistic problems as they do have one.

It will become a super-convenience store, as it could sell virtally all things without concern of display space.

But this could not be a model in US, as people dont use cash here, people use credit cards.
Funny, even beggars can buy things online!
