An idea a day:
43. Refer to idea 14, install mobile phone muter in several compartments in MTR/ KCR/ LTR, or even in the lower/ upper desk of buses in HK.
The technology is already ready, this has been applied in several theatres.
For freq. commuters, it is v. disturbing to have a buzzing bee sit near you. If there is a "silence compartment", people can select if they want to have a nice morning/ evening sleep/ chat in their phone.

Comments:

Are there any need to install high tech things within compartments?

Or just state it clear that the compartment is the "silence" one is ok?

As people will go into that compartment if they want it silence.
This can ensure the compartment is absolutely "cell-phone" free.

Have you ever think of condition in the peak hours? All people will rush into all compartments, even you stated that this is for "silence-traveller" only.
We could even take it higher:

Confine only some compartments in MTR are "cell-phone-able", this could force people either go into those if they want to talk, or finish the talk on the platform, than go into "silence-compartments".

You guys may think that I am too extreme on this issue, but I think talking disturbingly loud is just like smoking in your face!
Congraguate for your idea being actualized!

Look forward to others.
just surfed here accidentally. want to say, this is a very great place to surf.
“Trends in Japan”十分好,多謝分享! :)
I've read Freakonomics. It's not bad, but doesn't have that kind of in-depth description about economic principles. The author emphasized a lot of quantitative surveys and experiments, though the stories are interesting. I have heard of The Undercover Economists, but not the other ones. I'm looking for these books, thinking they might be better.
To Cat,
You have come back to HK?
How is the trip? Funny?
Yeah, my new term has started. That was semester break, and so I had the vacation. Not bad, though not fun:)
